David Hoddinott was born in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa,
He has always had a love and passion for all things fantasy.
His childhood was largely spent outdoors chasing daydreams and monsters. This finally coalesced during the last year of high school into the start of his first novel. With the help and support of his friends and family, he continued the work throughout university, acquiring degrees in Genetics and Veterinary Science and finishing the first of many drafts.
Writing remains his constant companion and a Faraday cage to the chaos of life. His favourite authors are J.K Rowling, J.V Jones and Garth Nix. Other influences growing up are the classic games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Baldur’s Gate and the Blizzard franchise.
Apart from writing, he has a love for nature and trees. He also enjoyed archery and was part of the Natal Sword and Shield medieval combat club for many years. He was recently married and moving to the UK with his lobster in 2020.
